We have been busy and doing nothing all at the same time lately. A lot and nothing have happened. Does that make sense? Probably not, anyway, here are some things lately.
I feel like Z has shot up the past few weeks. He loves to walk around with his shirt off, and he just looks super tall and super skinny to me these days.
Lu has been going potty some. I think she went for the first time about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It is sad that I didn’t document that. She probably goes about once a day, and we have a seat that is kindof “convertible,” so she goes on the big potty in her bathroom. No cleaning little potties this time!
We’ve gotten into a routine of going to the gym on Saturday mornings, we work out while the kids play, then we all go swimming afterwards. It has been so nice, and Z is loving jumping off the side and going under. He still can’t “swim” as in, he can’t pass the swim test, but he is super comfortable in the water and is getting close (I hope).
Lu generally enjoys the baby pool, but last weekend, she stayed in the big pool with her floaties the whole time. She’s come a long way from the beginning of the summer when she refused to wear her floaties or let me touch her in the pool. Not one of her best ideas.
Afterwards, they get snacks, and we all go home tired and ready for lunch and naps!
Lu cracks us up ON THE DAILY! She is constantly talking and says new things so much we can’t even keep up anymore. She’s ALWAYS competing with Z. If he says something, then she chimes right in! The other day, he fell on the playground, and he could barely start telling me the story before she yelled said, “I fall payground, I get a bood-aid (bandaid)!”
She answers and asks questions and still says “What u doing, Baba?” What u doing, Mama?” constantly!
She’s always worried about where Z is and what he’s doing. She loves to say “Zaydooo, are you, Zaydooo?” And, the other day she said “My brudder Zaydo is so funny!” He likes to show her things and she’ll say “Oh, that’s cool!”
Every so often she’ll say “I love you, Zayd,” and he’ll say “I love you, Lujayn” and my heart melts. Why is it so adorable when your kids say eachother’s names? Is it just me?!
Zayd is pretty funny too these days, like the other day Nick was telling him about “brainstorming,” and he said, “so if you have 2 good ideas, then the storm will come?”
He’s pretty good at playing by himself in his room, especially on weekend mornings or during naptime, when he’s not napping. But his favorite thing to do is play Mario Kart. He has spent many an evening on our bed just playing away. Sometimes, we and even Faris join, and sometimes he plays by himself. Lu’s not quite ready for MK, but she has to be in on it, so she watches Max and Ruby on the ipad many times while he’s playing.
Sometimes, he can’t help but stop MK to watch a little of his old favorite with his sister.
