Who Loves October?!
We love October! What's not to love?! Falling temperatures, changing leaves, pumpkins, and of course Halloween and Halloween PJ's!
This year October was even better for me because Nick and I got to go to Nashville and see Florence and the Machine, otherwise known as my favorite artist of all time (they're right up there with Celine, which my friends from college know I spent most of my teen and early twenties years obsessed with).
Florence has an other-worldly voice and live she takes your breath away! Hands down, it was the greatest show I've ever been to!
We spent the night in Nashville and came home to the kids Saturday evening. I am so thankful my parents were able to take care of the babes while we were gone, especially because this one woke up with the mutant croup on Friday (which we are STILL recovering from).

We celebrated our homecoming by taking the kids to Steak 'N Shake and the bubble tea place right next door. Then, we went home and relaxed after a relatively eventful day and a half.
Sunday, the weather was gorgeous, and Nick took the kids to the park while I caught up on cleaning and Gilmore Girls laundry.
Because every girl needs her rubber duckie and walking stick when she's out exploring. (The "walking stick" is going to be part of her Halloween costume).
And every boy needs lots of time practicing the art of skipping rocks.
It was really a perfect October weekend (minus the croup).

Croup Comes to Town
Week before last Lu had some mutant form of croup, which caused her to go to bed feeling and acting fairly normal then wake up in the morning with a 100/101 fever... Every...Day....
Because of this recurring fever, she ended up missing the entire week of school. Nick stayed home with her on Monday, and she spent most of the day like this. Pretty pitiful.
She perked up a bit on Tuesday, which was the day of Z's first school field trip, so when I took his picture to commemorate, she insisted on having her picture made "in my Frozen pajamas with Blue."
They pricked her finger to check her blood for infection, and when the nurse left, she said "That girl hurt my finger!" But she didn't mind the band-aid.

This pattern continued as you can clearly see, wild maniac running through the house naked to crashing on the couch.
Despite the normal, albeit wildly swinging behavior, after the third morning waking up with fever, I decided to take her to the doctor. He confirmed she had Croup, the mutant fevery kind, and that there wasn't much we could do about it.
She was a trooper at the doctor's office.

It was kindof a rough week, but I am so thankful my mom was able to give her lots of TLC (and food and fluids) to get her through it!
By Friday, we were on the mend and just in time for ballet (folding laundry) and a nice relaxing weekend!
