Thundercats are Go!

Well, as I said they come when they're good and ready. Story to come later, but Sunday, September 27, 2009 we welcomed our son Zayd Pacha Gaxiola into this world! My dad won the pool as he predicted he would come on Saturday (he also helped things along by taking me walking). I have been more blessed than I can ever have imagined throughout this pregnancy and delivery. I am thanking God every day for that! Nick and I are so happy this day has finally come, and we can't wait to share more with you all as he grows up (God-willing).

No News is Good News

Another doctor's appointment and no update. My doctor says we probably won't go all the way to my due date, which is October 7, and it still could be any day now. So we'll see...

Nursery... Kinda

I just realized that Baby G is about to be here, and I haven't posted any final nursery pics. I use the term nursery loosely, because, for those of you that don't know, we live in a condo. We absolutely love our condo, and wouldn't change it for anything, but it is slightly limited in terms of space. We had to turn our office/Nick's closet area/den into the "nursery." Let me just say, I was skeptical at first, but I think we pulled it off.

What amazes me is how much junk you can accumulate in such a small space, and how you don't realize just how much until you find yourself needing that space for new junk! I took some transition pictures just to illustrate what we went through and to bring a greater appreciation for the final result. I've also already posted a preview of the crib.

Update Number 1

Thus far, every doctor visit has been the same.

Friday morning, show up, wait a little bit, get called back, leave a urine sample (not fun), get on the scale (even worse), check BP, listen to baby's heart (bright spot), and lately the visit ends with a pelvic exam (okay, the absolute worst part). This time, I actually got some news! Yay! So, I'm 37 weeks 2 days, 80% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated. Don't let this information affect your vote in the poll, now, because it still could be several weeks, but it's something, and I'll take it!

Poll Posted

There's been a lot of speculation about when the little man is coming, so I thought I post a little blog poll for anyone who's interested. I just broke it into 3 categories, early, on time, or late. I cast the first vote for late, specifically, I'm thinking the 12th just because I know my patience is going to be tested. Somehow my dad thinks he is going to be early. I think it's because they have a trip planned for the weekend after my due date...

I guess that's what happens when you already have 5 grandchildren...

Full Takes on a New Meaning

Movements, hiccups, contractions... What was my life like before I had all this activity going on in my belly? Before, it was either full of food or empty or somewhere in between. It amazes me how we, pregnant women can just go on with our everyday business forgetting that there is another human life living and growing in our bellies! All day long, it's either movement, contraction, or hiccups (a really crazy phenomenon). And sure there are plenty of times where nothing is going on. But, it seems like if I just stop for a second, he reminds me that he's in there playing and having a grand ole time living where noone else has ever lived before. It serves as a constant reminder of the blessing that is pregnancy and motherhood.

Just some thoughts, and here's a belly pic, just for kicks. Even Nick and I can't believe how big it is getting these days!

All One Big Dream Sequence

I thought it would be fun to just write briefly about a couple of crazy dreams I've had lately. I've heard that you can have weird dreams when you are pregnant, and I want to be able to look back at this in a couple of years and laugh.

These are all about the baby.

So, one night I notice that I have a slit in my belly, and I think "oh, well that's perfect, I'll just reach in and get the baby, look at him and put him back." I mean, why not, right? So, I did just that, took the baby out of my belly, cord attached and all, got a good look at him and put him in to stew longer. Only when he went back in I noticed I had a big hole in my belly. Then I woke up relieved but also a little disappointed, because I realized I didn't get to see my baby and that I had to wait another 10 or so weeks. Odd, I know.

This next one sticks with the theme of things we wish were possible. So, Nick and I are up one night getting ready to feed our very new baby, and I realize we haven't changed his diaper in a while, so I tell Nick, "Oh, we need to change his diaper first," and the baby says (yeah, that's right, my baby was talking) "It's okay, you can feed me first, then change my diaper later." That's right, he was directing us. Hilarious!

In the coming weeks, I will probably be able to add to this list. At least I hope I can, because it sure gives me a kick. I also have to be thankful that I am sleeping well enough to have these crazy dreams!
